The Engineering Projects Department is an integral part of YVR, supporting construction and development projects on Sea Island. The Engineering Department collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the goals of the YVR Executive Team and leadership.

Position Overview

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Junior/Intermediate Project Engineer in the Engineering Projects Department. Reporting to the Manager, Airport Terminal Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing a diverse array of small to mid-sized design and construction projects, focusing on airport terminal and ancillary buildings, while supporting Senior Project Engineers with larger or more complex projects.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Managing assigned capital and investment projects, including developing project requirements, scope, budget, and schedule
• Preparing and delivering project implementation plans in collaboration with YVR stakeholders and Airport Operations and Maintenance, while promoting construction safety and environmental stewardship
• Preparing and evaluating RFP and tender documents, including scope of work, technical requirements, and schedule constraints
• Managing design teams to develop contract documents and meet project outcomes within scope, schedule, and budget
• Maintaining and managing construction contracts, schedules, and budgets, including cost forecasting and risk management
• Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders throughout projects, facilitating discussions, reviews, inspections, and site visits

Key Qualifications Include

• PMP certification and experience with Procore are advantageous
• Experience with commercial projects (retail or restaurant), including base building and/or fit-out, is a plus
• Degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, with a minimum of two years’ (Junior) or five years’ (Intermediate) experience in design, construction, or consulting
• Registered or eligible as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC; completion of Law and Ethics seminar required
• Knowledge of construction practices and standards; airport operations knowledge is an asset
• Strong project management, organizational, and contract law knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project
• Effective communication skills

Salary Range

$90,039 to $122,573 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. Salary is tailored to experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
