Job Title: Co-Program Director of Multi-Sport Camp (Etobicoke)

About True North Sports Camps

True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programming for boys and girls ages 2 to 14 in Toronto, Etobicoke, and Oshawa. We offer baseball, flag football, basketball, soccer, multi-sport, and hockey specialty summer day camps, along with after-school and weekend programs during fall, winter, and spring. We prioritize providing a memorable experience, believing that recreational sports are vital for child development.

Founded by the creators of North Toronto Baseball Camp, since 2007 our goal remains to deliver high-quality sports instruction in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.

We are committed to creating the best possible experience for every camper. While developing athletic skills is important, our core focus is fostering a positive environment where campers can have fun and build friendships.

Position Details

Camp runs weekly in July and August from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, with extended care from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. This summer, the camp operates for 7 weeks (June 30 – August 15) at West Glen Junior School, 47 Cowley Avenue, Etobicoke, ON.

Work Hours

You will be required on-site during July and August from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with some duties outside these hours, mainly remotely.

Responsibilities

As a Program Director, you will lead on-site camp activities, plan and organize daily programming, and ensure a fun, inclusive, and safe environment. You will manage various aspects of camp operations with support from your Co-Program Director and Assistant Director, including:

  1. Pre-Camp (June – Part-Time, approximately 30 hours)
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop camp programming
  • Assist in staff training planning and execution (mandatory attendance at scheduled dates)
  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are purchased, organized, and stored properly
  • During Camp (July & August – Full-Time)
    • Manage staff effectively, delegate tasks, and oversee coaching staff
    • Provide feedback and conduct performance reviews
    • Coordinate weekly schedules and daily reminders, including safety protocols
    • Lead staff meetings and support staff attendance management
    • Oversee CITs (Counsellors in Training)
  • Programming
    • Organize camper groups and create daily activities
    • Enhance programming through collaboration
  • Camper and Family Interactions
    • Manage camper check-in and check-out
    • Communicate with parents professionally and provide excellent customer service
    • Support campers with care and comfort as needed
  • First Aid and Safety
    • Ensure activities are safe
    • Provide first aid, document incidents, and administer medications
    • Maintain a well-stocked first aid kit
  • Miscellaneous
    • Implement camp policies and procedures
    • Participate in staff meetings and organize equipment and supplies
    Experience and Skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building

    • Experience in coaching or working with children in supervisory roles
    • Ability to motivate staff and acknowledge contributions

    • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR C required or to be obtained
    Compensation

    Salary will be competitive and based on experience, including a base salary and participation in a discretionary incentive program.
