Job Summary

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant City, ensuring communities, residents, and visitors have access to recreation and cultural programs, events, and services. It also oversees Buildings and Facilities Management to improve service delivery and client experience in City facilities.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, executing, and evaluating arts programs across multiple disciplines such as theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, media arts, and arts education. Responsibilities include securing resources, managing venues, supervising staff and volunteers, hiring arts instructors, creating partnerships, and securing grants or sponsorships.

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled in or practicing in disciplines like theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, or media arts at college or university. Minimum of 2 years of practicing or teaching experience in a related discipline, with technical skills to operate specialized equipment (e.g., pottery kilns, lighting, sets). Experience working with children in recreational or arts settings is preferred.

Certifications and Licenses
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
Knowledge
  • Community centers and interpretive techniques knowledge
  • Understanding of local arts community
  • Training program development for instructors and volunteers
  • Program design, development, and evaluation
  • Project management practices
  • Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and related policies
