Dietary Aide

As a valued member of our culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals, and will be responsible for cleaning serving areas and equipment, while following established policies, procedures, and standards. This position is for our Limestone Ridge facility, located in Kingston, Ontario.

Available opportunities include Part-Time/Days/Evenings/Weekends.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits for meal service, and maintaining proper serving temperatures.
• Assist Cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow basic instructions in preparing simple foods like breakfast items, basic desserts, and garnishes.
• Clear plates and trays, load and operate dishwashers, and clean pots, pans, and utensils as per procedures.
• Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
• Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

What You Bring

• Must be a student, with the understanding that once no longer a student, employment can only continue if enrolled in the required course and completed within 3 years of hire.
• Current Food Handler's Certificate.
• Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care) homes (0-1 year).
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to read, write, and understand basic English instructions.
• Ability to work safely following established safety practices and procedures.
• Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
