RDPSD wishes to secure a Teacher Counsellor or a Family School Liaison Counsellor at Ecole Lindsay Thurber High School. The successful candidate will work with the Counselling and Administration teams to provide support for students and enhance their overall development throughout their school experiences. This position will collaborate with district staff, school-based staff, and community service providers to promote mental wellness and support emotional development of students, and may also provide a variety of intervention services in collaboration with students and their families.
Our counsellors provide comprehensive guidance and counselling for students across a diverse spectrum while promoting personal and social development. They foster student growth and skill development while addressing factors that may lead to student problems, facilitating outside agency support when required. They also help students set goals, develop learning plans, and promote effective work and study habits. Additionally, they assist students in navigating transitions, exploring career education, and transitioning successfully from school into post-secondary environments.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology, a chartered psychologist, or a Registered Social Worker, and those with related experience prepared to work in an interdisciplinary team environment. A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate is required for Teacher Counsellor candidates; external applicants should include a copy with their application. Active registration with the applicable professional association or the Alberta College of Social Workers is required for those without an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
