Job Title: Communications Assistant
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Communications Assistant will support communications initiatives for Tikinagan and our service model, Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin, which guides the work of all staff at Tikinagan Child and Family Services.

Duties:
- Support the Communications department in executing internal and external communications, including social media, newsletters, website/portal updates, proofreading, graphic design, events, promotional orders, equipment inventory, campaigns, content creation for radio, newsletters, and online posts.
- Create and edit visual content, such as photography and videography, to promote Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin, services, communities, and events, as well as foster parent recruitment and employment opportunities.
- Travel to events, First Nation communities, and urban areas for promotional purposes.
- Research and monitor communication trends.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other units to support Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin.
- Attend team and planning meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- At least 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, or community engagement is preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in small teams.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Experience with video, photo, and graphic design tools (Adobe Suite, Canva) is required.
- Experience with social media management is an asset.
- Maintains professional integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills; experience working with First Nations communities and leadership is an asset.
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset.
- Willingness to travel and hold a valid driver’s license or obtain one.
- Must pass a criminal records check.
- Willing to work flexible hours; remote work is not available; relocation assistance is not provided.
