Job Summary
The Regional Operations Specialist role is a hybrid position that combines expertise in safety leadership, production, and engineering to promote a safe and efficient work environment. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, reducing risks, enhancing capacity and equipment, and improving operational efficiency. Responsibilities include designing safety programs, analyzing incidents, optimizing production methods, overseeing capital projects, and maintaining plant capacity planning to improve safety, productivity, and cost reduction.
This position collaborates closely with safety, production, and maintenance teams to support their success and deliver impactful results. Field support is crucial, along with developing leadership skills and fostering continuous improvement, teamwork, and project management.

Reporting
Direct line to North American Safety & Production Manager; dotted line to North American Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Set clear expectations, recognize success, and address performance needs.
- Use key performance indicators to lead with urgency, positively impacting safety, quality, cost, and speed.
- Partner with regional and general managers to develop, coach, and train management and maintenance teams, building talent pipelines.
- Develop and sustain employee training programs to enhance capabilities.
- Provide concise site summaries and actionable guidance for locations with follow-up.
Safety
- Develop and manage health, safety, and loss control policies to ensure OSHA and other regulatory compliance.
- Monitor workplace safety, proactively identifying and addressing risks.
- Design and implement safety training, including new employee orientation, emergency preparedness, hazardous material handling, and PPE use.
- Investigate incidents, analyze root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate safety records and report to leadership.
- Conduct safety audits and oversee safety compliance.
Production Process Improvement
- Plan and implement methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Review and identify inefficiencies in existing production methods, recommending solutions.
- Ensure processes meet quality standards and approved methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for change implementation.
- Monitor production metrics to identify and sustain improvements.
Engineering
- Align with regional leaders to develop project scope, cost, and schedule, managing projects to key metrics.
- Assess and create action plans for technical support services, including safety, environmental, and maintenance support.
- Make recommendations to the North American Engineering Manager for process improvements.
- Guide teams to resolve technical issues related to plant operations.
- Identify needs and improvement opportunities, creating business cases and managing projects from ideation to startup.
- Provide environmental oversight and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Promote safety during site visits and maintenance activities, collaborating with safety specialists.
- Manage project phases rigorously to achieve system performance, procedures, and training goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety practices, and quality standards.
- Experience across multiple locations/states.
- Lean manufacturing and safety certifications are advantages.
- Proven experience in continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- PLC programming knowledge preferred.
- Experience in industrial wastewater management is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office and analytical skills for process evaluation and solution implementation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage teams and drive change.
Office Location
- Must be able to work from home with a dedicated home office.
Travel Requirements
- Regional travel estimated at 50-60%.
Environmental Conditions
- Work in office, remote, and industrial facility environments.
- Operate vehicles on public roads.
