Qualifications

Uplifting Your Career at Ornge

We are currently hiring Advanced Care Flight or Critical Care Paramedics with current, active certification in Ontario, or equivalent certification in another Canadian jurisdiction, for base locations across Ontario, including remote and Northern locations. Critical Care Paramedics hired into part-time positions and meeting experience and proficiency requirements will need to complete any required training and certification with Ornge’s Base Hospital. Successful candidates will be required to relocate to assigned base locations, including remote and Northern Ontario areas.

Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for initiating and providing treatment, stabilization, and safe transport of patients via air and land, and completing relevant documentation. Duties include equipment and supply maintenance and maintaining a safe work environment. The Flight Paramedic practices within their scope of practice, adhering to all Ornge / MOH directives, policies, and procedures. They support and promote Ornge's strategic vision and principles.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ active field practice as a paramedic; 5 years’ active practice preferred.
  • Qualifications as outlined in the Ambulance Act / Ontario Reg 257 / 00, including:
  • MOH Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) certificate or eligibility for Ontario equivalency.
  • MOH Advanced Care Paramedic certificate or eligibility for Ontario equivalency.
  • Current valid F Class (or higher) Driver's License with satisfactory Driver Abstract.
  • Current CPR for Healthcare Professionals and/or ACLS certification.
  • Valid immunizations and freedom from communicable diseases as per MOH standards.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Search within 90 days.
  • Graduation certificate from a recognized Advanced Care Paramedic program.
  • Current Advanced Care Paramedic Flight certification in good standing or previous certification at CCP level with Ornge, with ability to recertify within 180 days.
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to provide proof of completion of Ornge Aeromedical Theory Program and MOH Aeromedical Theory Certificate.
Hours and Location of Work
  • Work various shifts, including day, night, weekends, and statutory holidays, in a 24/7 environment.
  • Comply with Ornge’s Part-Time Employee Availability & Shift Commitment Policy.
  • May require overnight stays away from home base.
  • Use respiratory protective equipment and cooperate in achieving an effective fit, including being clean-shaven.
