About the Role

Retail Deposits and Investments Technology within GWM is seeking a Sr. Software Developer to work on a strategic application suite. This role involves developing and enhancing a business-critical application, ensuring high quality, speed, and stability. Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, you will design, develop, and implement applications for the Investment Platform, focusing on the Authentication domain to safeguard our customers. Your responsibilities include delivering Java-based solutions, maintaining code quality, creating design documents, and engaging in technical discussions. You will contribute to digital products impacting millions of Scotiabank customers daily.

Key Responsibilities

1. Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
2. Provide system analysis, object-oriented design, programming, documentation, and support.
3. Recommend best practices and enhancements aligned with the bank’s technology roadmap.
4. Collaborate with project teams on technical requirements and design.
5. Perform coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
6. Participate in planning, code reviews, and release activities.
7. Lead implementation efforts and support production issue resolution.
8. Assist in system analysis and improvement recommendations.
9. Consider the bank’s risk culture in activities and decisions.
10. Promote a high-performance, inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
2. 10+ years of experience in systems analysis, design, development, and debugging.
3. Proficiency in Core Java (Version 8 or higher)/Java, JDK17+.
4. Experience with SQL, Spring Framework (Boot, Security, Data Repositories, Batch), Hibernate, Kafka.
5. Knowledge of Web Services (SOAP/REST), IDEs like IntelliJ or Eclipse.
6. Familiarity with GIT, Bitbucket, Gradle, Maven, Jira, Confluence, CI/CD pipelines.
7. Understanding of SSL, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Splunk, Dynatrace.
8. Experience in security systems, vulnerabilities, and agile environments.
9. Experience with investment products or retail banking is a plus.
10. Customer-centric mindset and ability to assess impact on data processing environment.
