Job Title: Senior Tax Analyst

Overview:
Our client is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join their Tax department in their Vancouver office. Along with the other members of the Tax department, the Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for completion of tax provision calculations for financial statement reporting purposes, and preparation and filing of tax returns mainly with tax authorities. This will include communication and co-ordination of numerous tax issues with foreign subsidiary tax personnel and external consultants.

What you will be doing:

  1. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly consolidated tax provisions, financial statement note disclosures and other external reporting, as well as supporting documentation.
  2. Prepare annual Canadian corporate income tax returns, including T106 and T1134.
  3. Prepare various other compliance filings, including but not limited to GST/HST, T5, NR4, US Form 1099, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), and Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) reporting.
  4. Prepare responses to requests from external financial statement auditors.
  5. Prepare responses to tax audit requests from Canadian and foreign tax authorities, while working with various internal teams and/or external advisors.
  6. Prepare responses to requests from both the internal audit team and external service providers related to SOX and internal controls testing.
  7. Prepare or update tax working papers and analysis including, but not limited to, tax basis, surplus, and FAPI calculations.
  8. Provide support for transfer pricing calculations and intercompany billing as necessary.
  9. Support the preparation of the budget for global tax payments, and the tracking of budget to actual tax payments.
  10. Assist as needed with other ad-hoc tax projects.

What you must have:

  1. Accounting designation, preferably CPA, with 4-5 years of industry or public practice tax experience.
  2. Enrolled in the CPA In-depth Tax Course.
  3. Strong tax accounting skills, preferably within a public accounting firm handling the provision calculations for large multinational clients or within a multinational corporation preparing the tax provision.
  4. Excellent knowledge of accounting for income tax under IAS 12 or the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  5. Experience in the preparation of Canadian corporate tax returns and supporting documentation files for large multinational corporations, including the preparation of T106s and T1134s.
  6. Self-starter in identifying and managing multiple tasks with varying priorities.
  7. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  8. Proficiency in spreadsheet development and analytics.
  9. International travel may be required. Other beneficial skills (not explicitly required):
  10. Experience in transfer pricing.
  11. Experience with systems and ERP implementations.
  12. Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Salary/Rate Range: $105,000 – $115,000
