Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) has an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our Product Planning Department (PPD). This full-time role reports to the Manager, Toyota Product Planning. PPD plays a vital role at TCI by shaping future product plans, incorporating the Canadian market voice into new vehicle development, and ensuring accurate vehicle information is shared internally, with dealers, and with manufacturing. This role offers immersion into the Canadian automotive market with daily new challenges.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of Toyota products across three model years, becoming a subject-matter expert on these products, competitors, and customers. Responsibilities include long-term studies, immediate support for in-market vehicles, detailed data analysis, and sales presentations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Present to diverse audiences, advocating for product changes aligned with the Canadian market and customer needs
  • Analyze vehicle specifications, yearly changes, and their impacts to TCI, advocating for necessary changes
  • Conduct market research on competitors, new technologies, and consumer acceptance, including attending US and Japan activities and competitor trades
Near-Term (Next Model Year):
  • Deep analysis of upcoming models to understand market dynamics, challenges, and opportunities
  • Prepare and present information for launch readiness
  • Determine product grades, packages, options, and colors, and gain stakeholder consensus
  • Ensure accurate information input and communication for the upcoming model launch
  • Manage milestones to ensure timely launch
Mid-Term (Next Three Model Years):
  • Coordinate vehicle development with US and Japan teams to influence future models
  • Analyze future models for market fit and challenges
  • Provide Canadian-specific insights and advocate for product modifications
  • Assess product power and features to meet TCI goals
  • Evaluate proposed product changes and special editions for market impact and TCI alignment
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years automotive experience; product planning experience is a plus
  • Curious and inquisitive mindset
  • Strong data analysis skills from sales, vehicle specs, and consumer surveys
  • Ability to simplify complex information for various audiences
  • Self-motivated with good prioritization skills
  • Experience creating proposals and building consensus
  • Interest in developing new relationships
  • Process improvement skills
  • Attention to detail and process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; presentation skills are a plus
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
