Job description

New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities. The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Instructor at Dorchester Penitentiary. Employment Type: Casual

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour based on experience and level of post-secondary education.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree with related work experience (OR) Bachelor's degree AND Certificate in Adult Education (OR) Certificate in Andragogy AND/OR a Masters in Education from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least three (3) years of related, recent work experience.

  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Experience with adult education and correctional facilities is highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities

As part of the School of Professional and Part-time Learning, collaborating with and reporting to the Business Development Manager, you are responsible for:

  • Planning and preparing instructional materials and resources;
  • Establishing and managing a positive learning environment;
  • Instructing and evaluating students;
  • Building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders, as well as other related duties.
