LOCATION: Athabasca Area, Alberta

Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Trades, Electrical Apprentice to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. This is a four-year non-permanent contract position, working on a full-time basis. General working hours for this position are Monday -Thursday, 7:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. The successful candidate will receive a competitive annual salary including paid pension and matching RRSP program, 4-week’s annual vacation, company paid dental and extended health benefits, with many additional employee incentives.

Role Responsibilities

  • Acquire the necessary skills and technical training to become a competent journeyperson.
  • Work with the maintenance team to learn and perform all required tasks in accordance with mill quality and electrical standards.
  • Follow a range of mandatory work instructions (including the use of PPE where relevant) to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Role Requirements

  • Must be an Indentured 1st year Electrical Apprentice.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully complete any required program entrance exams and Alberta-Pacific’s on-line behavioral assessment.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot.
  • The ability to read and understand complex instructions.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors at physically demanding tasks that often require climbing and lifting or moving heavy items.
  • The job may involve standing for long periods or working from heights.
  • This position requires working with power tools and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill in meeting deadlines with multiple duties and tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure, changing priorities, deadlines, and adapt to change.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (GDL removed) with an acceptable driving history.
