Job Title: People & CultureAssistant

Status: Regular, Full Time (37.5 hours weekly)

Salary: This position starts at $50,000 per year and increases to $68,000 per year, over a 10- year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth and development within the organization.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a People & CultureAssistant to join our People & CultureTeam. If you have a passion for providing an exemplary HR experience and want to work in a fast paced environment this opportunity is for you! The People & Culture Assistant will work within the Human Resources Department providing both recruitment and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the recruitment process by creating job postings, scheduling phone, video and in-person interviews with hiring managers;
  • Assists with preparing and developing HR correspondence including employment verification letters;
  • Processes reference checks and criminal record checks;
  • Performs a range of administrative duties often involving material of a confidential nature;
  • Assists with preparing and developing HR correspondence including employment verification letters and other employee correspondence;
  • Acts as a front-line resource for all employee inquiries and actively manages the HR mailbox and assigns/forwards correspondence to the appropriate team member;
  • Responsible for the uploading employment records in the HRIS, ensuring complete accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with by-laws and other regulatory bodies;
  • Manages the casual management call-in process including updating of seniority lists, employee communication and documentation;
  • Acts as minute taker at HR meetings;
  • Responsible for all HR filing as needed;
  • Assists the Human Resources team with special projects as assigned;
  • Works with the Human Resources team to ensure smooth onboarding for all new staff;
  • Populating internal newsletter content and distributing to All Staff;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of People & Culture.
Qualified candidates will posses:

  • A minimum of one year’s post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field of study;
  • One year’s experience in Human Resources;
  • One year’s experience in an office environment;
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems;
  • Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills;
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
  • Computer literacy in Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, E-mail and internet applications including Zoom;
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, adaptable, and exercises good judgment.
Preference will be given to candidates who also posses:
  • CPHR or working towards designation;
  • Experience within a unionized environment;
  • A second language.

A criminal record check is required as a part of this process.
