Job description

The Quality Engineer - Automation is a seasoned professional role. It applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows for the area or function. The role integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area and requires an in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function, as well as how to coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. The engineer evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, developing approaches and weighing various alternatives while balancing conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Strong analytical skills are essential to filter, prioritize, and validate complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. The role often involves informal or formal leadership within teams, coaching, and training new recruits. The individual significantly impacts project size and geography by influencing decisions through advice, counsel, and facilitating services within their area of specialization. The performance of all teams in the area is directly affected by the individual's performance.

Responsibilities:

• Support initiatives related to all testing cycles, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and product rollout into production. Work with technology project managers, UAT professionals, and users to design and implement testing scripts and plans.
• Engage in functional and automation testing activities.
• Test and analyze a broad range of systems and applications to ensure they meet or exceed standards and end-user requirements.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business and functional requirements to develop test plans, cases, and scripts.
• Handle complex testing assignments and execute test scripts according to documentation.
• Identify defects, recommend actions, and perform root cause analyses.
• Coordinate testing activities among multiple testers within projects.
• Retest after corrections to ensure issues are resolved.
• Document, evaluate, and research test results for future reference.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to testing strategies.
• Analyze project requirements and designs, interfacing with client leads and development teams.
• Demonstrate sound understanding of technical concepts and principles, with basic knowledge in related areas.
• Understand how own area integrates within IT testing and possess basic commercial awareness.
• Make evaluative judgments based on factual analysis in complex and novel situations.
• Participate in test strategy meetings.
• Impact the team and related teams by ensuring quality in tasks and services.
• Communicate complex information effectively, demonstrating diplomacy.
• Provide metrics on the cost, effort, and milestones of quality activities.
• Serve as an advisor and mentor to junior team members.
• Assume informal or formal leadership roles within teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assess risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding the firm's reputation, and escalating issues as necessary.

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of Testing Analyst experience.
• Familiarity with SDLC, QA methodologies, operating systems, languages, database tools, defect tracking, change management, and automated regression testing tools. Experience with trading platforms or similar software. Ability to work under pressure during tight deadlines.
• Methodical approach to testing and problem-solving. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated planning and operational abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and proactive communication skills.
• Knowledge of specific software languages depending on the business area.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
