Job description

Our esteemed client, a Home Builder situated in Muskoka, Ontario, seeks a hands-on Finance Manager to lead their finance operations.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and financial reporting. As a key member of the leadership team, you will provide valuable insights and drive financial strategies to ensure operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and long-term profitability.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years experience in a similar capacity and be open to being onsite 5 days a week. The company offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and ample opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities :

• Report to the Operations Director, providing regular updates and financial insights.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering an inclusive high-performance environment.
• Deep dive into project, equipment and corporate costs providing insight into unit rates, areas for cost reduction, and profitability.
• Oversee accounting operations (AR, AP, Payroll, Fixed Assets, GL), assisting when necessary, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Manage and post larger infrequent transactions such as purchase and sale of properties, including calculation COGS, and ensuring correct HST treatment.
• Prepare month end financials and HST filings and summarize results for management.
• Monitor cashflow and participate in AR collections.

Requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant work experience may be considered in place of a formal degree.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred (but not required).
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and tax compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Track record of implementing financial strategy in a growing business.
