Responsibilities

The selected candidate will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, operations, and Transport Canada regulations.
  • Perform periodic and annual inspections, understanding relevant regulations.
  • Wire, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect, and install electrical equipment (e.g., rheostats, control systems, transformers, motors, generators, lighting fixtures, cab heaters, batteries, charging systems, speed recorders, air compressor controls, temperature switches, starters, axle generators, coils, contactors, relays, governors).
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance on all electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot and test single and three-phase electrical systems on diesel electric locomotives, including grounded components, wiring, high and low voltage, wheel slip, transition, and electrical load conditions.
  • Work safely.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

General Requirements

  • Possess a professional certificate in Electromechanical or Electrical field.
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations: working hours, service calls, overtime, outside tasks, etc.
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills.
  • Prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • High level of autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Experience or knowledge in programmable automation is an asset.
