Security Guard - Farview Park Mall - Kitchener

The Opportunity

Role Impact

Reporting to the Security Manager, the security guard is responsible for ensuring the protection of tenants, employees, property, and information through enforcement of access control and property policies. The security team maintains public safety and a problem-free shopping environment. The successful candidate must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

What You Will Deliver

• Respond to emergency situations, including medical, criminal, and hazards.
• Enforce shopping centre rules & regulations and the Trespass to Property Act.
• Assist with crowd control.
• Perform access control, mall lock-ups, and unlocks.
• Maintain detailed records and prepare incident reports.
• Assist customers and tenants with customer service and security initiatives professionally and courteously.
• Provide backup support to other guards and assist as needed.
• Support police and emergency personnel when required.
• Follow security operational procedures outlined in Fire Safety and Emergency Response Plans.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct patrols of the interior and exterior of the property, including the Commons.
• Complete assigned tour patrols.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Security Manager or their delegate.

What You Need to Succeed

• Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement/Security or equivalent.
• At least one year of shopping centre security experience preferred.
• Provincial Security License is required.
• Helpful, courteous, and pleasant demeanor with tenants, patrons, and colleagues.
• Valid First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS certification.
• Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• WHMIS and other safety training is an asset.
• Understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
