Security Guard - Farview Park Mall - Kitchener

THE OPPORTUNITY

Role Impact:

Reporting to the Security Manager, the security guard is responsible for ensuring the protection of tenant employees, property, and information by enforcing access control and property removal policies. The security team maintains public safety and a trouble-free shopping environment. The successful candidate must be available to work all shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

What you will deliver:

  • Respond to emergency situations, including medical, criminal, hazards, etc.
  • Enforce shopping centre rules & regulations and the Trespass to Property Act.
  • Assist with crowd control.
  • Perform access control, mall lock-ups, and unlocks.
  • Maintain detailed memo books and prepare incident reports.
  • Assist customers and tenants with customer service and security-related initiatives professionally and courteously.
  • Provide backup support to other security guards and assist as needed.
  • Assist police and emergency personnel, including fire and ambulance services.
  • Follow security operational procedures outlined in Fire Safety and Emergency Response Plans.
  • Adhere to procedures in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct patrols of the interior and exterior of the property, including common areas.
  • Complete assigned patrol tours.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Security Manager or their designate.

What you need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement/Security or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of shopping centre security experience preferred.
  • Provincial Security License is required.
  • Helpful, courteous, and pleasant demeanor towards tenants, patrons, and co-workers.
  • Valid certification in First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS.
  • Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • WHMIS and other safety courses are an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
