Job summary

Government of Prince Edward Island seeks a skilled specialist to develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavioural intervention for preschoolers and Kindergarten children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role includes coaching Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) to Autism Assistants, plus on-site coaching for families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Child Development, Education, Psychology or a related field.
• Extensive training in Applied Behaviour Analysis.
• Experience working with preschoolers with Autism and knowledge of child development.
• Equivalencies will be considered.
• Ability to manage time, organize work responsibilities, work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate with the public, both orally and in writing.
• Strong computer skills including email, word processing and presentations.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle; extensive travel in the province is required.
• Good attendance and a clean record, plus satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check before starting.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching with caseload children.
• Complete curriculum assessments.
• Design developmentally sequenced goals and objectives.
• Write and regularly update individual plans.
• Train and support team members in intervention techniques.
• Collaborate with other professionals on goals and problem solving.
• Facilitate transitions into early childhood centres and schools.
• Participate in individual or group training sessions.
• Facilitate functional behavioural assessments.
• Adapt and modify programming and curriculum.
• Perform other related duties as required.
