About the Role

MRU Camps is looking for enthusiastic individuals to share their knowledge and expertise with children and youth. Under the supervision of the Early Learning & Elementary Education (ELEE) Supervisor, the Instructor is responsible for delivering lessons and leading various activities. Additional responsibilities include administrative duties and maintaining professional relations with staff, campers, and parents.

These are casual positions ending August 29, 2025. The hours of work are between 7:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Camp Instructors must be available for all 9 weeks of employment (June 30 - August 29, 2025) and orientation week (June 23-27, 2025).

All MRU Camps staff are required to provide the following at their own cost prior to commencement:

  • Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within 1 year)
  • Standard First Aid (valid within 2 years) and CPR Level C (valid within 1 year)
Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and modify program lessons and activities.
  • Ensure safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers aged 4 - 9 years old.
  • Make accommodations for campers with varying learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with co-Leaders and Instructors to deliver daily programs.
  • Assist Camp Leaders with recreational and classroom activities.
  • Supervise and coordinate lunchtime, before and after care.
  • Complete administrative tasks associated with the program.
  • Attend staff orientation and necessary staff meetings.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and guardians.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a childcare/educational setting (minimum 1 year).
  • Previous experience with camp-related or recreational activities is an asset.
  • The ability to work well in a team and individually.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be available for 40 hours per week (8 hours per day), Monday to Friday, June 30 - August 29, 2025.
  • Must be available for mandatory staff training June 23-27, 2025.
What We Offer

Salary: $18.00 per hour
