Job summary

Avanti Software Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Early Childhood Educator for multiple YMCA locations in Calgary, Alberta. The role involves filling in for absent staff, supervising children, and engaging in centre initiatives. Ideal candidates must have an Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification and certifications in First Aid with CPR-C.

The salary ranges from $15.00 to $18.66 per hour plus provincial wage top-up, with additional benefits including a complimentary YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children aged 12 months to 6 years in a licensed childcare setting.
• Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Three professional references required.

Responsibilities

Start Date: Immediately.

Salary: $15.00 - $18.66/hour + provincial wage top‑up.

Qualifications

• The ability to work scheduled shifts between 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
• Will be required to travel and work in multiple locations.
• Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification – Level 1, 2 or 3.
• Experience working with children aged 12 months to 6 years in a licensed childcare setting.
• Positive attitude and collaborative teamwork approach.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including basic computer literacy.
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR‑C certification within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider; preferred if issued by Canadian Red Cross, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John’s Ambulance, or Canadian Ski Patrol.
• Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Three professional references.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for absent staff members as assigned.

• Consistently deliver a developmentally appropriate program while engaging with and supervising participants, including supporting personal care needs.
• Demonstrate safe practices, promptly address all health‑ and safety risks, and manage emergency situations per YMCA procedures.
• Acquire and maintain required certifications and training.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe indoor and outdoor environment.
• Engage in centre, facility, and association events, happenings, and initiatives as required.
