Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) to join our team at Oakville Early Learning Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality early learning and care for children, fostering their emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development through appropriate activities and programs tailored to individual needs. The ECE will ensure a safe, nurturing environment conducive to growth and learning.

Education & Training

• Must be qualified as an ECE II
• Certification in First Aid and CPR relevant to the age group being cared for
• Will obtain a police check and child abuse registry check

Experience Required

Some experience working with children in a similar environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and Maintain a Safe and Healthy Learning Environment
  • Safety: Ensure the environment is free of hazards, handle emergencies, and supervise children.
  • Health: Encourage good health and nutrition habits, monitor symptoms of illness, and maintain health records.
  • Learning Environment: Create stimulating environments and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Advance Physical and Intellectual Competence
  • Physical: Plan and monitor activities for physical development and sensory exploration.
  • Cognitive: Provide activities to stimulate curiosity, problem-solving, and exploration.
  • Communication: Encourage verbal and nonverbal communication skills development.
  • Creative: Provide opportunities for imaginative and creative expression.
• Build Positive Self-Concept and Individual Strength: Celebrate unique strengths and characteristics, promote independence, and support positive self-concept development.
• Promote Positive Functioning of Children and Adults
  • Social: Encourage positive social interaction and teach empathy and mutual respect.
  • Guidance and Discipline: Set realistic behavior expectations, provide positive guidance, and address behavior without labeling or threatening.
• Coordinate Home and Centre Child-Rearing Practices and Expectations: Welcome new families, encourage parent involvement, and collaborate with parents and professionals.
• Supplementary Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Maintain administrative duties, plan long-range programs, and work with stakeholders.
  • Personal and Professional Development: Demonstrate professionalism, maintain personal well-being, and pursue ongoing professional growth.
