Job summary

Community Support Centre Haldimand Norfolk seeks candidates for an on-site daycare role in a rural community. You will assist infants and children, implement learning activities, and work with educators to support child development.

Requirements include a 1–2 year college diploma and 1 year to less than 2 years of experience. The position is on-site in a childcare setting with opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Responsibilities

• Assess the children’s development to prepare learning plans tailored to individual needs.
• Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers.
• Develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
• Maintain daycare equipment.
• Storytelling.
• Assist early childhood educators in carrying out development-promoting activities.
• Lead activities by storytelling, songs, and field trips.
• Order supplies and equipment.
• Assist educators or supervisors in keeping records.
• Encourage creativity through art, drama, music and physical activity.
• Guide proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms for lunch and rest periods.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations.
• Establish collaborative relationships with coworkers and community providers.
• Plan environments that protect health and well-being of children.

Education

College/CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma (1–2 years)
