EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR

ONE POSITION FOR RUTH KING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

TWENTY-EIGHT HOURS PER WEEK.

Qualifications as per the job description.

Rate of pay as per the collective agreement.

Title:

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE)

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 graduation and Diploma, and a valid Early Childhood Educator License to Practice or Early Childhood Educator Assistant License to Practice.
• A minimum of two years of experience working with students in early education.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Kindergarten teacher, school Principal/Vice Principal, district coordinators, and community partners.
• Knowledge of child development, the Early Learning Framework, Kindergarten Program, and effective resources.
• Successful experience in various Early Childhood Education settings with diverse populations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organization and planning skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues, with confidence to advocate.
• Cooperative, courteous, flexible, and helpful attitude.
• Current First Aid certification.
• Some positions may require French language skills.

Program Goal:

The ECE will work directly in the Kindergarten classroom, assisting the teacher and coordinating with the principal. The role involves supporting students' development through play-based activities and engaging with the school and community.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Support and assist the Kindergarten teacher in program delivery.
• Ensure student participation in developmentally appropriate, play-based activities.
• Attend program meetings.
• Develop positive relationships with parents and community partners.
• Work in various settings.

Terms of Employment:

Ten months.
