Job summary

Vancouver Society of Children's Centres (VSOCC) invites applications for an Early Childhood Educator (3 to 5) at Vancouver Downtown. You will plan, implement and evaluate activities to meet the needs of children and families in a caring, inclusive setting.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with competitive wages, health benefits, RRSP matching, and $250 annually for professional development, starting October 28, 2026.

Qualifications

  • ECE basic / Special Needs Certification
  • Childcare First Aid and Food Safe Level 1
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
  • Knowledge of Emergent curriculum and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Developmental needs of children
  • Family engagement strategies and parenting issues and needs
  • Guiding and caring strategies
  • Knowledge of broader child care field and its role in the community

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all children and families of a childcare program.
  • Guide and care for a group of children ages 3 to 5 years old
  • Encourage learning and develop positive self-concepts for children
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment for children
  • Maintain effective and cooperative team work and communication
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents and families

Reports to:

The Early Childhood Educator reports to the Program Supervisor.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all children and families of a childcare program.
  • Guide and care for a group of children ages 3 to 5 years old
  • Encourage learning and develop positive self-concepts for children
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment for children
  • Maintain effective and cooperative team work and communication
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents and families

In addition to being a wonderful and positive person & team player, you must have:

  • ECE basic &/or Special Needs Certification
  • Childcare First Aid and Food Safe Level 1
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of:
  • Emergent curriculum and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Developmental needs of children
  • Family engagement strategies and parenting issues and needs
  • Guiding and caring strategies
  • Knowledge of broader child care field and its role in the community

Additional skills and experiences may include:

  • Child care experience working in an inclusive child care setting
  • Second Language

Terms of Employment:

  • Salary: $27.85 to $28.74 per hour plus employer-paid health and welfare benefits. In addition, you may be eligible for a $6 per hour Provincial ECE Wage Enhancement.
  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Starting: October 28, 2026
  • Location: Vancouver Downtown, 3 to 5 program
