Job summary

Vancouver Society of Children’s Centres (VSOCC) invites applications for an Early Childhood Educator. The role focuses on planning and delivering activities for children aged 3 months to 5 years, fostering curiosity and inclusive, nurturing environments.

You will work across multiple downtown Vancouver locations, with salary commensurate with education, full-time hours, and benefits including health and welfare coverage plus wage enhancements where applicable.

Qualifications

  • ECE basic, Infant/Toddler and/or Special Needs certification.
  • Childcare First Aid and Food Safe Level 1.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Strong knowledge of emergent curriculum and the BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Developmental needs of children and family engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of broader childcare field and its role in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all children and families of a childcare program.
  • Guide and care for a group of children ages 3 months to 3 to 5 years old.
  • Encourage learning and develop positive self-concepts for children.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment for children.
  • Maintain effective and cooperative teamwork and communication.
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents and families.

Reports to:

The Early Childhood Educator reports to the Program Manager.

Here’s how you will make a positive impact on a day-to-day basis:
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all children and families of a childcare program.

  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with parents and families
In addition to being a wonderful and positive person & team player, you must have:
  • ECE basic | ECE Infant / Toddler &/or Special Needs Certification
  • Childcare First Aid and Food Safe Level 1
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of:
  • Emergent curriculum and the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Developmental needs of children
  • Family engagement strategies and parenting issues and needs
  • Guiding and caring strategies
  • Knowledge of broader childcare field and its role in the community
Additional skills and experiences may include:
  • Childcare experience working in an inclusive childcare setting
  • Second Language
Terms of Employment:
  • Salary: $27.85 to $28.74 per hour plus employer-paid health and welfare benefits. In addition, you may be eligible for a $6 per hour Provincial ECE Wage Enhancement.
  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Starting: As soon as possible
  • Location: MULTIPLE LOCATIONS DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER
