Job summary

Summit Community Services Society seeks an enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join Second Steps Daycare. The 40-hour-per-week maternity leave cover requires planning developmentally appropriate activities and guiding children aged 3 years to school age, in a warm, inclusive setting.

You will collaborate with co-educators, maintain a safe, organized environment, communicate with families, and adhere to BC licensing regulations and the ECE code of ethics.

Qualifications

• ECEA Certification required.
• First Aid and Food Safe certificates required.
• Criminal record check required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities for children 3yrs - school age; encourage independence and growth.
• Collaborate with co-educators to deliver program activities.
• Maintain open, respectful, and positive communication with co-educators; parents and families.
• Follow and uphold all Licensing regulations and confidentiality guidelines.
• Maintain an organized and welcoming environment for children and families.
• Carry out regular daily cleaning and sanitizing duties.

Early Childhood Educator

Summit Community Services Society (SCSS) seeks an enthusiastic ECEA to join our team. We are posting for a position at Second Steps Daycare for an ECEA for 40 hrs per week to cover a maternity leave with the option to extend. The candidate will practice according to IHA’s child care licensing regulations, the ECE code of ethics and the BC Early Learning Framework. The successful candidate will plan, lead, and guide activities throughout the day, such as reading, physical activity, and creative expression through art and song.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, carry out and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children 3yrs - school age; to encourage independence and growth in all areas of the children’s social, emotional and physical development.
• Work in collaboration with co-educators.
• Maintain open, respectful and positive communication with co-educators; parents and family members.
• Follow and uphold all Licensing regulations and confidentiality guidelines.
• Maintain an organized and a welcoming environment.
• Carry out regular daily cleaning and sanitizing duties.
