Tamarack Day Care & OSC is looking to hire an Early Childhood Assistant (TEER 42202) on a permanent basis.

Address: 2381 Maple Road NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6T 1H9

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.

Wages: $35.40 per hour

Number of Vacancies: 1

Minimum Education: Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate

Minimum Experience: 7 Months to less than 1 year

Certificate: ECE Level 1, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.

Job Duties:

  1. Assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs.
  2. Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties.
  3. Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  4. Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents.
  5. Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  6. Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  7. Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
  8. Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  9. Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  10. Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  11. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  12. Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work independently, attention to detail, repetitive tasks, tight deadlines, and work under pressure.
