Job description

Supervisor Distribution Planning

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Supervisor, Distribution Planning will be responsible for the effective operation of this key department, including managing and leading the electrical distribution planning team. The candidate will guide the development and implementation of electrical distribution system plans, considering budgets and deadlines, and will identify actions for improvement in incident prevention and output quality. This position also involves maintaining the GIS/OMS systems and managing projects related to electrical systems across the service area. The role emphasizes adherence to the company's core values, health and safety policies, and compliance with external legislation and standards.

The incumbent should have practical knowledge of industry rules, electrical utility practices, and regulations (such as OEB, CEC, and EUSA). Demonstrated ability to maintain positive customer relationships, work with external consultants, foster harmonious labor relations, and seek process improvements is essential. Success in this role requires a blend of technical knowledge, a willingness to learn, problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop relationships at all organizational levels. We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology with eligibility to register with OACETT, or equivalent trade and field experience in the electrical power industry; P. Eng - Electrical Engineering will also be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of electrical utility experience, preferably in a regulated utility environment, with supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
  • Fundamental understanding of power systems and distribution system planning.
  • Practical knowledge of Ontario Energy Board regulations and electrical energy practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to manage departmental operations effectively internally and externally.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and strong computer skills.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety, ethics, and continuous workplace improvement.
  • Valid Ontario “G” license with a clean driving abstract.
