TECHNICAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR

Looking for a career in which you are responsible for the overall business performance and staff productivity within technical operations including substations, metering and control room operations?

Canadian Niagara Power Inc. (CNPI), located in beautiful Fort Erie, is looking for a motivated and organized problem-solver with a positive attitude, and passion for learning and cultivating relationships. The Technical Services Supervisor is an instrumental position, responsible for the growth and integration of operational functions. This position is supported by the Regional Manager and a key member of the CNPI operations team and has six (6) direct reports.

Key functions of this role:

  • Provide direction, support, and leadership in the areas of substation construction and maintenance, metering, SCADA, protection & control, as well as control center operations.
  • Responsible for technical oversight in the areas of regulatory reporting & various technical projects and studies.
  • Support the standardization of design equipment, work procedures, and safety polices within areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise all aspects of metering work ensuring metering practises meet industry and company practises and compliance.
  • Manage revenue and energy accuracy on all our metering installations; manage wholesale metering with IESO and oversee contracts
  • Coordinate contract tenders and bids for new construction projects and ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and all financial requirements
  • Facilitate safety meetings and perform work observations and inspections in compliance with corporate Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve efficiency in overall service reliability and outage management solutions.
  • Provide employee development and foster positive working relations.
  • Respond when scheduled in the rotation for Supervisor on-call duties and be available for emergency situations.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • Post secondary education in electrical engineering technology or equivalent utility trades working experience.
  • Minimum ten (10) years utility related experience, including five (5) years leadership experience
  • Exposure and understanding in the areas of SCADA, protection, control, communication, and substation.
  • Understanding of revenue metering.
  • Thorough understanding of computer applications, such as the Microsoft Office
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of Utility Work Protection Code, Electrical utilities safety rules, and all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal relations including the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically with strong problem solving and decision-making skills along with project management experience would be an asset
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario “G” license with a clean driving abstract - travel within Ontario will be required.
