Job description

Job Title: General Manager – Sanctum Village & Retreats

Location: Highlands, Vancouver Island, BC

Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Compensation: Competitive salary with performance incentives

Estimated Start Date: Fall/Winter 2025 (or earlier, negotiable)

About Sanctum:

Sanctum is a visionary off-grid luxury wellness retreat coming soon to the coastal rainforest on Vancouver Island. Rooted in regeneration, reciprocity, and community, Sanctum is designed as a sanctuary for healing, nature connection, creative pursuits, and entrepreneurial transformation. We host immersive retreats, glamping stays, seasonal markets, and nature-based wellness experiences — all grounded in ecological stewardship and Indigenous-informed wisdom.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a mission-driven, heart-led General Manager to lead day-to-day operations and help bring the Sanctum vision to life. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a meaningful land-based venture from the ground up. You’ll oversee hospitality, retreat coordination, team leadership, budgeting, and guest experience — while holding deep respect for the ecological, spiritual, and cultural essence of the land.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee daily retreat operations, including accommodation (glamping domes, cabins), spa facilities, and event spaces
  • Coordinate bookings, vendor schedules, site maintenance, and seasonal event execution
  • Research, book, and manage retreat, workshop, and event hosts
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and relationships with local suppliers and service providers
  • Manage payroll for all employees, contractors, and vendors

Team Leadership

  • Hire, train, and manage hospitality, housekeeping, and guest services staff
  • Create a strong, mission-aligned team culture focused on presence, care, and excellence

Guest Experience

  • Deliver a seamless, soulful guest journey — from check-in to post-retreat integration
  • Ensure all wellness, cultural, and culinary experiences meet the Sanctum standard
  • Support retreat hosts and facilitators with on-site logistics and service excellence

Budget & Administration

  • Monitor and manage budgets, financial reporting, and occupancy goals
  • Oversee payment systems, reporting tools, and guest CRM platforms

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in hospitality, retreat or resort management, eco-tourism, or wellness operations
  • Proven leadership in startup or entrepreneurial environments (especially land-based or off-grid)
  • Experience with property operations, guest services, and team management
  • A heart for Indigenous-informed collaboration, ecological values, and spiritual wellness
  • Strong communication, systems thinking, and project management skills

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to co-create a transformational wellness sanctuary from its early stages
  • Competitive salary with bonus potential and wellness perks
  • Deep connection to a purpose-driven community rooted in healing, land, and creativity
  • Immersive work in a stunning forest setting with flexible rhythms aligned with nature
  • Housing or accommodation support (negotiable)

To Apply:

Please send your resume and a brief letter sharing why you feel called to lead at Sanctum to info@sanctum-village.com. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the right person is found.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals who identify as Indigenous, Métis, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, women, and others who are underrepresented in wellness leadership roles. We value lived experience, heart intelligence, and deep integrity as much as we value formal credentials.
