Purpose

The Vice President, Global Trade Finance Operations (The VP) is responsible for setting up, building, and operating a successful Global Trade Finance Operations team with oversight of local markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The role involves designing, developing, implementing, and integrating operational models, business architecture, and technology solutions to enable the business to achieve targets and sustain performance.

The VP ensures strategies and solutions are executed in compliance with regulations, internal policies, and procedures, fostering a risk-aware culture focused on mitigating risks for clients and the Bank. They set the overall vision for the operations team and partner across the enterprise, including GTB, business lines, Technology, Finance, Compliance, and Risk Management, to deliver on this vision.

Accountabilities
  1. Lead and cultivate a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Provide leadership for the operational delivery of Global Trade Finance Operations across geographies, including:
  • Partnering with the business to define scope and optimal operating models to meet goals, establishing a roadmap for achievement.
  • Designing and strategizing operational models leveraging key partnerships.
  • Establishing governance frameworks with standardized practices to minimize fragmentation and manual work.
  • Supporting strategic business case development and benefits tracking.
  • Serving as a product owner influencing technology solutions to meet evolving needs.
  • Ensuring efficient operations through KPIs and SLAs.
  • Guaranteeing consistent, high-quality customer experiences.
  • Enhancing stakeholder experience by minimizing risks and optimizing operations.
  • Acting as a thought leader and trusted advisor to senior management.
  • Develop strategies to evolve and optimize operational models, focusing on process improvements, automation, and standardization.
  • Manage day-to-day activities aligned with the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite, ensuring risks are assessed and contained, and breaches are promptly addressed.
  • Create an environment of effective and efficient operations, ensuring compliance with risk, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct standards.
  • Build a high-performance team environment, attracting, developing, and motivating staff while fostering inclusivity and managing succession planning.
  • Education / Experience
    • MBA, Certified Credit Professional, or ACAMS designation is an asset.
    • Solid background and experience in Global Trade Finance.
    • Knowledge of corporate credit and trade finance products.
    • High awareness of lending, AML/ATF, Sanctions regulations, and ICC rules for Trade Finance.
    • Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is an asset.
