Purpose
The Vice President, Global Trade Finance Operations (The VP) is responsible for setting up, building, and operating a successful Global Trade Finance Operations team with oversight of local markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Designs, develops, implements, and integrates leading operational models, business architecture, and technology solutions to enable the business to achieve targets and sustain performance.
The VP is responsible for ensuring strategies and solutions are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations of each country in which it operates, internal policies and procedures, and fostering a risk culture on the team focused on mitigating risks for clients and the Bank.
The VP also sets the overall vision for this operations team, while partnering across the enterprise, including key partners in GTB, the business lines, Technology, Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, and others across the organization to enable the team to deliver on its vision.
Accountabilities
• Develops strategies to evolve, optimize, and mature the operational model by creating and executing against a roadmap, embedding resiliency, and striving to increase efficiency through process improvements, automation, standardization, and straight-through processing.
• Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
• Ensures that operational risks (including AML/ATF and Sanctions) are assessed and contained, while executing deals/transactions within the products and regions under scope. Also ensures that senior management is aware of any potential breaches in risks promptly, taking containment/remedial action as appropriate.
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
