Our client is seeking a temporary cook for its busy daycare facility to support from April 7th – 17th.

The successful candidate will handle all food prep, cooking, cleanup, and organizing for a center with 75 children and 18-20 staff. You can expect a collaborative and supportive team environment dedicated to the development of the children in care, taking their nutrition very seriously. Direct supervision of children is not required; however, positive interactions are encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Food prep including any prep for meals in advance (prepping veggies, pre-cook, baking cookies, preparing soup stocks, etc.)
• Cook all meals and snacks for the 4 different classrooms following all food safety rules and structured to the dietary needs of the children
• Cleanup and sanitization in accordance with all food safety protocols for all tools used as well as the kitchen as a whole
• Order food and supplies in keeping with the dietary needs of the children and the budget of the organization
• Receive, put away, and track all kitchen inventory (food and supplies/tools) for the organization
• Friendly and jovial short interactions with children that reinforce the daycare’s teachings (good morning, please, thank you, etc.)

Qualifications:

• Clean criminal background check required
• “Food Safe” certification required
• Reliable

• Ability to have short interactions with children in a safe and respectful manner

Experience:

• Commercial kitchen experience
• Large format food preparation experience (asset)
• Inventory management experience (asset)

Base Salary: $19/hr

Work Hours:

• Monday to Friday
• 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
