Responsibilities

Tasks

• Operate buses, school buses, or streetcars to transport passengers
• Report delays, mechanical problems, and accidents
• Direct passengers during emergency evacuation procedures
• Deal with the public
• Communicate with passengers, dispatchers, or other drivers using two-way radio systems
• Ensure children's safety when boarding and leaving buses and crossing streets while the bus is stopped
• Maintain control of student activities during travel to prevent distractions or behaviors that could compromise safety
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
