Compensation : $48,888 - $61,110

We're looking for a mission-driven Lead, Regulatory Affairs who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

  • Act as CNIB's subject matter expert on national accessibility regulations and standards, including but not limited to the Accessible Canada Act regulations, Canadian Transportation Agency accessibility regulations, and CRTC accessibility regulations
  • Steward CNIB's relationship with Accessibility Standards Canada
  • Engage people who are blind to provide feedback as part of CNIB's responses to consultations
  • Support projects to advance CNIB's role in advocating for accessible built environments
  • Coordinate CNIB's responses to regulatory body consultations
  • Monitor federal regulations and standards in relation to accessibility
  • Identify and pursue federal funding opportunities to support CNIB's initiatives and collaborate with philanthropy to secure funding for program implementation
  • Support elements of CNIB's international work and consult on integrating international frameworks and conventions into national and organizational policies
  • Support the development of CNIB's quarterly advocacy newsletter
  • Effectively communicate CNIB's key messages to external audiences through presentations, briefing materials, and other communication materials
  • Ensure compliance with CNIB policies and legislative obligations, including but not limited to the Lobbying Act
  • Work with colleagues across the organization to operationalize goals of "Stronger Together" in all aspects of advocacy

Requirements

Who you are :

Education and Certifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent education and work experience

Experience And Qualifications

  • 2-3 years' experience working in advocacy, accessibility, government relations, or policy analysis
  • Superior understanding of accessibility standards and regulations
  • Experience in supporting advocacy, accessibility, and government relations initiatives
  • Professional attitude, self-starter and adaptable to a dynamic organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
  • Passionate champion of diversity, accessibility, and inclusion issues
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and database computer applications
  • Well organized and excellent coordination skills
  • Experience or proficiency working with Salesforce is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and / or accessible environments is considered an asset
