Job Description

Joining AbbVie means you will be part of a team of outstanding professionals dedicated to making a remarkable impact on patients' lives. At AbbVie, we conduct ground-breaking science on a global scale every day. AbbVie Canada is recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada.

When choosing your career path, choose to be remarkable.

AbbVie's mission is to discover and deliver innovative medicines that solve serious health issues today and address the medical challenges of tomorrow. We aim to impact people's lives across key therapeutic areas: immunology, oncology, neuroscience, vision care, virology, women’s health, and gastroenterology, in addition to products and services in our Allergan Aesthetics portfolio.

The focus at AbbVie is evolving from operational and tactical responsibilities to developing complex pharmacy and distribution strategies across the entire portfolio, in both specialty and retail pharmacy channels. This includes supporting high-value brands in areas like IBD, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Parkinson’s, and payer-managed medications in Migraine, Psychiatry, and Eye Care. These medications often require special storage, handling, and coordination with payers and healthcare professionals, with a focus on patient education, monitoring, and management.

The expectations of pharmacies and pharmacists are rapidly changing, requiring transformation. Many are adopting new technologies and customer service innovations. As specialty and retail pharmacies evolve, the Pharmacy Partnership and Trade Manager will define how AbbVie partners with these stakeholders to enhance patient experience and grow our business. Patients' needs and expectations are also changing, emphasizing convenience, digital capabilities, and clinical support, which challenges manufacturers like AbbVie to redefine our value propositions and stakeholder partnerships.

The Pharmacy Partnership and Trade Manager will lead a team to identify business opportunities in the evolving pharmacy and distribution landscape and develop initiatives to partner with stakeholders supporting AbbVie products. This role requires expertise in the pharmacy and distribution channels, strategic partnership development, and innovative distribution models.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Establish vision and strategic frameworks to innovate and create best-in-class distribution and patient access models in both channels.
  • Develop strategies to partner with pharmacies to improve connectivity and patient experience.
  • Ensure successful launch execution in the Trade channel by preparing stakeholders for product launches.
  • Analyze complex pharmacy data to inform strategic decisions and measure performance.
  • Manage relationships with internal cross-functional teams including commercial, finance, customer service, and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with commercial and finance leaders on trade strategies impacting planning and forecasting.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders like pharmacies, vendors, and partners.
  • Work with Market Access to address policy changes affecting products and lead related initiatives.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of inclusion and professional growth.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Business, Health Administration, or related; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in pharmacy services, trade operations, or similar roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with contract negotiation.
  • Marketing experience is a plus.
  • Proven leadership and experience managing cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude and customer-centric mindset.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and standards.

Skills and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfort with technology and various tools/systems.

Leadership competencies:

  • Strategic thinking, relationship building, communication, change management, decision making, leadership, problem solving, and customer focus.
