Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in this position.

Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, planning and providing personal care, and executing nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to competency guidelines, agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN is required.

Skills and Abilities
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
  • Deal effectively with others.
  • Organize work and implement care plans.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competencies to work at the full scope of practice, including administering medications.
  • Operate related equipment.
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
