Job description

The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation’s internal and external communications in support of IFC’s business objectives and strategic roadmap. This includes :

Within the Corporate Communications team, the Executive Communications team is responsible for developing and executing communication plans that elevate the profile of the global and Canadian CEOs (and additional senior executives) and that share the key elements of Intact’s strategy. This includes the management of various executive engagements, internal and external events, employee blogs and social media accounts.

As a Communications Advisor II , you will work in close collaboration with the Executive Communications team on a wide range of communications programs and initiatives to support Intact’s Canadian and global CEOs. You will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities., including assisting with events, including logistics, executing promotions plans, tracking event metrics and creating video content. You will also be responsible for distributing and posting communications on our various channels as well as KPI tracking and creating reports to help identify opportunities to strengthen employee communications globally. The successful candidate will report into the Manager of Executive Communications and can be based at our Toronto ( University Av.) or Montreal (, Robert-Bourassa Blvd) office.

What you’ll do here :

  • Work closely with our Senior Events Advisor to plan and execute our quarterly Manager webcast and employee webcast, Connecting Coast to Coast.
  • Support internal and external events including developing briefs, working with IT on logistics and sending invitations.
  • Lead the production of video content for our quarterly employee webcast. This involves working with internal stakeholders to ideate, develop and execute a quarterly video.
  • Track, measure and report on performance of exec communications (email, Intranet, video, LinkedIn, etc.) on a monthly basis.
  • Collect metrics on our global content from partners in the US, UK, Europe and present findings on a monthly basis.
  • Distribute executive communication to employees in Canada and coordinate the distribution with other Canadian brands and partners in the US, UK and Europe.
  • Monitor Corporate Communications mailbox for employee feedback, record and close employee questions when required.
  • Post from CEOs’ LinkedIn accounts and monitor accounts for questions, comments, or complaints. Work with the media and customer service team if any need to be addressed.
  • Review, update and maintain Executive Communications content calendar.
  • Attend weekly editorial calendar meetings and share updates on behalf of Executive Communications.
  • Draft communications, including sending for review, approvals and translation

What you bring to the table :

  • An undergraduate degree with specialization in communications, public relations, journalism or a related discipline, or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of communications experience working in a corporate or similar environment.
  • Ability to work well in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience working directly with senior executives.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail - you can spot a typo a mile away!
  • Takes initiative, is flexible and adapts easily to change
  • Committed to delivering high standards
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills to support the team
  • Highly computer literate with strong command of MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Creative and willing to try new ideas
  • Experience with design and video creation an asset
  • Experience providing back-end support to IT platforms and / or basic multimedia production an asset, with a desire to expand skills
  • French is a strong asset. For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism (English / French) is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
