Reporting to the Manager / Supervisor, the Kitchen Aide / Cook will make a difference in the lives of youth through a compassionate, hospitable, and non-judgmental approach. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, and cleaning up lunch and dinner for residents and non-residents at youth services locations. Additional duties involve unloading (some lifting required), storing donations and food orders properly, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including refrigerators and freezers.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Applicants should understand issues such as abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental illness, and addictions. Requirements include a minimum of Grade 12 education, some kitchen aide / cooking experience, a Food Handlers Certificate, valid CPR certification (or willingness to obtain), and a commitment to our mission and values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality, and dignity. A valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract are also necessary.
