Competences :

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented full-time Senior Accountant to join our finance team at Tarkett Sports. The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in our Montreal office, or remote work from Calgary (AB) or Toronto (ON). Tarkett Sports is a global leader in sports construction and surfacing, providing architectural design, full-scope construction services, and industry-leading sports surfacing solutions.

Reporting to the Director of Finance - Construction, the Senior Accountant will support Tarkett Sports' growth strategy through acquisitions by ensuring compliance with corporate accounting standards and policies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting, with a strong understanding of cost management, project accounting, and financial analysis and reporting. This role is crucial in realizing synergies, maintaining compliance, and ensuring consistent financial reporting post-acquisition. Travel to the US once a quarter is required.

What you'll do :

1. Lead and assist in the monthly and annual financial close processes.
2. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
3. Analyze financial data to provide insights on cost control, revenue trends, and profitability.
4. Review job costing and WIP reports for proper cost allocation and revenue recognition.
5. Assist in developing and implementing new accounting processes for acquired entities.
6. Ensure proper recording of acquisition-related adjustments, including fair value adjustments and amortization of intangible assets.
7. Training & Knowledge Transfer :
8. Assist in training the acquired company's accounting staff.
9. Update accounting procedures and controls to align with corporate standards while respecting existing practices.
10. Budgeting and Forecasting :
11. Support budgeting and forecasting for new entities following corporate guidelines.
12. Internal Controls & Compliance :
13. Review and help implement internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.
14. Implement controls for tracking project costs accurately.
15. Stakeholder Communication :
16. Act as liaison between acquired finance teams and the parent organization.

Education & Experience :

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
• CPA or similar certification preferred or in progress.
• Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in construction project accounting, focusing on revenue recognition and percentage of completion.
• Experience with accounting software, project management tools, and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Understanding of construction accounting, including job costing and WIP.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and presentation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and lead teams.
