The Manager provides oversight, supervision, leadership and support to the Tissue Program, in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) and informed by the Director, Tissue Program and TGLN objectives.
The Manager also provides rotational on-call support during donor case activity and post-case follow up; and provides consultation; support; and advisory services as needed.
Here is what you will be doing:
O versight and support for the Provincial Tissue Program regarding the donation process; consent; tissue coordination; and the tissue recovery process to meet or exceed Tissue Program objectives and standards
In coordination with the Director, determines the required frameworks, methodologies, and tools to execute on the multi-year strategic plan and annual operational business plan
Review, develop , ensure implementation and compliance of internal policies and procedures to ensure best practice
Manages collaborative relationships and engages a diverse set of stakeholder groups ( internal and external ) to deliver on key activities or program initiatives
Develop p erformance r eports to improve , monitor, set and/or forecast performance metrics
Develops and m onitors budget across multiple, large, and/or complex operational areas/programs, and supports the Director in managing the overall budget
Identifies improvement opportunities and escalates key issues/risks to the Director; proposes and executes solutions to address challenges or mitigate risks
Hires and oversees the scheduling of staff
Manages an interdisciplinary team , including setting performance expectations ; allocating work; overseeing and ensuring the quality of service; measuring/reporting on performance outcomes; performance management and maintaining a trusting and supportive environment
Liaise s with Labor Relations to enhance overall operational effectiveness and ensure risk mitigation for the business unit
Leads and/or participates in regular working groups , steering committees and planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders to support the programs
Ensures that all regulatory standards are maintained , including Health Canada, American Association of Tissue Banks, and the Eye Bank of Canada
Works in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety/ Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
Three to five (3-5 ) years of successful management , supervisory and/or leadership experience in a health science related field
Managerial experience in a unionized environment is an asset
Current CTBS certification or will acquire within 3 years
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated successful experience in supervisory, management, and or leadership role(s).
Demonstrated successful experience in developing and implementing policies and processes.
Demonstrated ability to diffuse conflict situations , identifying and resolving issues promptly
Demonstrated management skills and competencies required that are characterized by setting appropriate expectations for staff, maintaining a supportive and trusting environment, monitoring delegated activities, and providing recognition of results.
Demonstrated success in program development, project management, and change management.
Demonstrated ability to function collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to practice with a high degree of autonomy in a self-directed manner.
Demonstrated situational analysis and adaptation skills with a high degree of independence to proactively prioritize and deliver on commitments.
Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced environment adapting to daily changes in priorities and schedules.
Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Superior problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are essential .
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Computer usage skills, word processing and electronic forms usage are required in addition to utilizing software applications
