The Chief Medical Physicist reports professionally to the Head of the Radiation Therapy Service and Department of Radiation Oncology, and administratively to the Senior Director and Senior Medical Director of the Cancer Care Program. This role involves overseeing medical physics services, education, and research. The position includes developing and directing graduate education, research, and development within the department. The Chief Medical Physicist ensures radiation therapy is delivered accurately, effectively, and safely, adhering to national and international standards. An academic appointment is held, typically in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University, with cross-appointment to the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science.
This is a permanent, full-time position on a renewable 5-year assignment.
