About the Opportunity

The Chief Medical Physicist reports professionally to the Head of Radiation Therapy and administratively to the Senior Director and Senior Medical Director of Cancer Care. This role involves overseeing medical physics services, education, and research, with responsibilities including developing graduate education, research, and ensuring safe, effective radiation therapy delivery according to current standards. The position includes an academic appointment at Dalhousie University, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science.

This is a permanent, full-time position on a renewable 5-year assignment.

About You

We are seeking candidates with:

  • PhD or DSc in Medical Physics
  • Membership in MCCPM or FCCPM (or equivalent), with a preference for Fellow status
  • At least seven years of experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist
  • Three years of leadership/management experience, including budgeting, supervision, and planning
  • A strong academic record with publications in medical physics
  • Eligibility for faculty appointment at Dalhousie University
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability, initiative, responsibility, decision-making, and teaching skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Additional language skills, especially French, are assets

Hours
  • Permanent full-time; 75 hours biweekly, renewable for 5 years
Compensation and Benefits

Salary is under review.
