Qualifications

The Medical Laboratory Technologist plays a vital role in providing proficient and timely laboratory results for residents of Nunavut. Analyzing patient samples, using specialized and complex laboratory instruments, impacts the excellence of patient care, treatment, and diagnosis provided by the health care team.

Key Responsibilities

High Accuracy: Analysis of individual patient tests using manual techniques and laboratory instrumentation, recognizing normal and abnormal findings, and initiating appropriate action.

Independent: Ability to work independently and as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.

Versatility: Ability to work in all specialties such as Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, PCR and Microbiology.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a Canadian Accredited College or University. CSMLS registration and certification is required.
