Job description

This employment opportunity is open to all applicants.


The Medical Sonography Technologist plays a vital role in providing proficient, timely imaging for patients of Iqaluit and Qikiqtaaluk Region. Independently producing high quality sonographic images impacts the excellence of patient care, treatment, and diagnosis provided by the health care team.


Key Responsibilities

  1. High-Quality Imaging: Proficiently scan and produce high-quality sonographic imaging to aid in the care, diagnosis and treatment of patients.

  2. Independent: Confident in their skills with no Radiologist on-site. Required to provide preliminary reports to Physicians.

  3. Client Oriented Care: Provide culturally sensitive care to the clients of Iqaluit and the surrounding 11 communities, in coordination as a team player with the Diagnostic Imaging Team at Qikiqtani General Hospital.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Diploma or Degree in Medical Sonography Technology from a Canadian Accredited College or University. Sonography Canada and/or Provincial Medical Imaging registration and certification is required.

  • Monday-Friday, 8:30am--5:00pm. On-call evenings and weekends (shared with another Technologist(s)).
