Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

Role Overview
SMC Communications is seeking an experienced, creative, and confident designer to join our team in a pivotal design role. As an Intermediate Designer, you’ll take ownership of a range of creative projects—from brand identity systems to digital content and web design—primarily within the food, beverage, and hospitality space.
You bring a sharp design eye, strategic thinking, and strong production skills, while collaborating with our Head of Creative, Web Developer, and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Creative Execution: Concept, design, and deliver high-quality visual assets for branding, digital campaigns, packaging, websites, and print collateral.
- Strategic Thinking: Translate client briefs and brand strategy into thoughtful, compelling visual communication that meets both business and creative goals.
- Collaborative Development: Work cross-functionally with the Web Developer, Creative Director, and Marketing/PR teams to ensure alignment on design intent and brand vision.
- Client-Ready Work: Prepare and present design concepts internally and externally with confidence, clarity, and strategic rationale.
- Production Oversight: Oversee design production for both print and digital, ensuring files are delivered to spec, on time, and to a high standard.
- Trend Awareness: Stay ahead of industry and cultural trends, bringing fresh thinking and inspiration to the team and our work.
- Workflow Management: Manage multiple projects independently, including timelines, task prioritization, and organized file structure
What We’
re Looking For
- 3-5+ years of professional design experience in an agency or in-house creative team (hospitality or lifestyle brand experience is a bonus).
- A polished and versatile portfolio showcasing strong brand identity and web design work, with a clear sense of conceptual thinking and visual storytelling.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Webflow or WordPress a plus.
- Strong typographic and layout skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience producing print-ready artwork and prepping digital designs for development.
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills—comfortable presenting ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and working across disciplines.
- Ability to juggle competing deadlines without compromising quality.
- A passion for design, especially in the food, beverage, and hospitality space.
- Bonus: Basic motion/animation skills (e.g., logo animations for case studies).
