Job description

Reports to:

The Director of Reaching Home and Urban Inuit in the President’s Department.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop community presence to maintain services for the Inuit population and meet with Makivvik’s partners in Montreal, including Chez Doris, Native Women Centre, The Open Door, Projects Autochthones Québec (PAQ), Southern Quebec Inuit Association (SQIA), Air Inuit, Canadian North, CIUSSS, Airport Security, and Police Service. Serve as the link between Frontline Workers and these organizations.
  2. Act as the middle person for homeless and vulnerable individuals, coordinating with other organizations to resolve issues, improve communication, and facilitate resource and service utilization.
  3. Support Frontline Workers by assisting with shelters, flight re-bookings, beneficiary cards, and other services. Find replacements during team members' days off or holidays, and ensure Dayforce timesheets are completed. Visit frontline workers during the workday to provide updates or feedback.
  4. Keep updated information on culturally appropriate services, programs, and activities for urban Inuit.
  5. Participate in committees and meetings aimed at improving the quality of life for Inuit in Montreal.
  6. Identify issues requiring decisions and act accordingly.
  7. Be available to travel throughout Montreal and its suburbs as needed.
  8. Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Good communication skills in at least two of the three languages: Inuktitut, English, and/or French.
  • Extended knowledge of Inuit values and practices.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Ability to work as a team leader.
  • Experience in social issues and services.
