Position Summary

Are you a registered Occupational Therapist looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Home and Community Care Rehab department.

In accordance with professional standards and the code of ethics outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, the Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription, and education of residents/clients/patients ('the client') and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and achieve optimal health outcomes in inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community settings. The Occupational Therapist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the profession and department; participates in quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education; provides work direction to rehabilitation assistants; and contributes to departmental guidelines and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Administrative duties are performed as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Monday to Thursday, Days - 08:00 to 15:48

Bulkley Lodge

Located in central Smithers, approximately five minutes from Bulkley Valley District Hospital, Bulkley Lodge is a stand-alone, long-term care home with 53 beds, including two respite beds and three short-stay beds. The facility offers daily therapeutic recreation services, pastoral and spiritual care, a volunteer program, and an on-site, integrated community Adult Day Program operating 7 days a week.

Smithers

Smithers, in the picturesque Bulkley Valley, is surrounded by three mountain ranges and offers an alpine setting with affordable housing and natural beauty. The town has a population of approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from surrounding communities accessing services. Educational institutions include elementary schools, a secondary school, an alternate format school, and Coast Mountain College.

Qualifications
